About the opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Clinician to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, young people, and families across the Northern Territory, with a specific focus on remote communities in the Barkly region.
In this role, you will provide specialist clinical assessment and therapeutic support to children and young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour, working alongside their families and carers. You will be part of a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering trauma informed and culturally responsive interventions, and collaborating closely with partner agencies to develop holistic therapeutic and safety plans.
The position also offers opportunities to contribute to program development, training, consultation, and research, strengthening ACF’s evidence based and culturally safe therapeutic services. This includes delivering BUGK training and facilitating parenting workshops to support carers, families, and local service providers to respond safely and confidently to harmful sexual behaviour.
As part of this role, you will support the expansion of ACF’s Safe Connections program into remote communities across the Barkly region. Many children in these communities are themselves victims of abuse and currently have no access to specialist therapeutic services. Through this expansion, you will help deliver trauma transformative and culturally safe services where they are most needed.
The program provides specialist assessment, counselling, on country healing camps, and education for families and communities. Services are co designed with Aboriginal leaders and delivered in familiar culturally safe settings. You will work alongside local workers and organisations to build long term community capability, strengthen trauma informed responses, and reduce reliance on fly in service models.
This role supports early intervention, community healing, and improved safety outcomes for children and communities in the Barkly region and aligns with national standards and the objectives of the National Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse.
